CHRISTCHURCH CLUB’S EVENTS

The second and third heats of the Christchurch Model Yacht Club A and B section championships were sailed In a north-easterly wind during the week-end All yachts sailed from scratch. The races were supervised by Mr J. Matthews. Results were:— B Section.—Second heat: Empire (D. J. Spencer), 32min 7sec, 1: Westwind (A. Praed), 32min 34sec. 2: Cadger (W. Schenkel), 33min 56sec, 3; Rusty (A. S. Kennedy), 33min 58sec, 4; Lark (Morris Turner), 40min 18sec, 5. Third heat: Cadger. 35min 57sec. 1: Empire. 40min 46sec, 2: Rusty, 42min 39sec, 3; Westwind, 43min 44sec, 4: Lark, 44min 18sec, 5. Points gained were: Empire 21 points. Cadger 13, Westwind 12, Rusty and Lark 5 each. A Section.—Third heat: Doris (B. George), 30min 51sec, 1: Arawa (Barrie McCallum 31m 42sec 2; Venus (Miss Raewyn Turner), 39min I.6sec, 3; Newlyn (John Turner). 41min 13sec, 4; St. Ives (Norman Praed), 43min 18sec, 5. Points gained were.—Doris 24, Arawa 15, Cod 5, Venus 4, Tempest, St. Ives. Newlyn, 3 each. The yachts eligible to sail in finals are Doris, Empire. Arawa, Cadger, Westwind, Rusty. Cod. Lark. The seventy-second heat of the points trophy race was sailed in a north-north-easterly wind.
