N.Z. SURF TEAM’S PROGRAMME
Departure Tomorrow For Australia
The New Zealand surf team, which will compete in Australia this month and early December, will arrive in Christchurch today. The team assembled in Wellington during the week-end and received clothing issues. Before the team leaves for Australia tomorrow morning, it will attend several farewell functions. This morning the ♦earn will attend an informal reception at Parliament Buildings, and this evening a farewell function has been arranged by the Canterbury Surf Life-saving Association. Last evening the team attended a similar function in the new Maranui clubhouse at Lyall Bay. Next Sunday, the team will take part in the first of several carnivals and championships. the international surf carnival at Torquay, near Melbourne. Here it will compete against Australian. South African. United States, and Hawaiian teams. Other events the team is scheduled to complete in are the Australian championships at Torquay on December 2. two tests at Maroubra and Collaroy (Sydney) on December 8 and 9, and a number of smaller carnivals being arranged in Victoria and New South Wales.
