Queen Elizabeth Of Greece Dead
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 15. The former Queen Elizabeth of Greece died last night in a Cannes nursing home. The Queen, a great granddaughter of Queen Victoria, entered the nursing home three weeks ago, suffering from heart trouble. Before her marriage to Prince George of Greece, in 1921, she was Princess Elizabeth of Rumania, eldest daughter of Queen Marie of Rumania. She was born at Pelesh Castle Sinaia a residence of the Rumanian Royal Family in the Carpathian Mountains. on October 11, 1894. After her marriage to Prince George, eldest son of King Constantine of Greece, she went to live in Athens. King Constantine abdicated in September, 1922, and Prince George came to the throne.
In 1935 Queen Elizabeth became a Rumanian subject, and also, while her husband ’ was in London, started divorce proceedings. A divorce was granted in July after a six-minute hearing.
A talk on ,interior decorating was given by Miss Brightmore at a recent meeting of the West of England Women’s Association. Mrs G. Eastmond presided.
