KARITANE NURSES’ BUREAU

TRANSFER TO PLUNKET BUILDING

The Karitane Nurses’ Bureau will move to its new office in the Plunket Society’s building in Oxford terrace. Christchurch, on Mondav. and the new secretary, Mrs W. P. J. Bornet. will begin her duties then.

The bureau, which was established during the Second World War to direct the services of trained Karitane nurses where they were most urgently needed, began its operations from headquarters in the Plunket building. About nine years ago. the bureau was transferred to Karitane Hospital, but the office has been moved back to the Plunket building because it is more centrally situated.

Karitane nurses are encouraged to work through the bureau, and from there are directed to cases. Parents also inquire for nurses at the bureau. Mrs M. Watt, who had been secretary of the bureau for some time, resigned recently because she is leaving Christchurch to live in Wellington.
