COMPENSATION COURT

After the case for the plaintiff had been heard in the Compensation Court yesterday Judge Dalglish adjourned a claim by James Edward Cowell, a pipelayer (Mr B. A. Barrer). against the Christchurch City Council *Mr W. R. Lascelles), for compensation for an injury to his back, said to have been suffered during the course of his work. The hearing will be resumed on Thursday. The plaintiff claims that after lifting the asphalt top of a road with a pick-axe and after drilling a water main he was off work for periods because of pain in his back. He now had to wear a brace and was doing light duties as a meter reader. JUDGMENT FOR PLAINTIFF Richard James Brown, a cleaner (Mr C. M Roper) was given judgment against Godfrey Hamilton Hall. » farmer (Mr R P. Thompson), in his claim for compensation for an injury suffered while plaintiff was a tractor driver for the defendant on October 18. 1954. Judgment was given for Brown for compensation as on a 50 per cent disability. Brown claimed that he suffered a dislocated spine and later had ‘x> have a spinal graft.
