NORTHERN OUTLET FOR DUNEDIN
SURVEY OF WAITATI TUNNEL URGED If the line ot the Waitati tunnel was not surveyed soon, the whole area would be built over from Sawyers Bay. Mr L. J Wraight (St. Kilda), told members of the executive of the South Island Local Bodies’ Association yesterday. The development of Dunedin and Otago was dependent upon the driving the tunnel, said Mr Wraight, and the new northern outlet was only a stop-gap. The executive will urge the Government to take title to the land, and proceed with a survey as soon as possible. It will also ask that giade easements as far north as Oamaru be proceeded with, to reduce running times between Dunedin and Christchurch
