“Professor Bishop will visit New Zealand early next year for a series ot promenade concerts in the four main centres.” said Mr Algie. “This is the arrangement to which I have previously referred as being in prospect, when announcing the acceptance by Mr James Robertson, conductor of the National Orchestra, of an invitation from the Australian Broadcasting Commission to conduct a series of concerts in Australia from January to March. 1957. “Professor Bishop has many friends, personal and musical, in New Zeaand.” Mr Algie said. “He is a New Zealander himself. On a visit to New Zealand at the end of last year, he conducted the National Orchestra in two studio broadcasts, and their quality was such as to make his return to conduct in the public concerts of the promenade series a very welcome one?’
