RECRUITS FOR POLICE FORCE

MR HOLLAND APPEALS FOR ENROLMENTS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. October 15. Three hundred and fifty of the 1400 who inquired about joining the Police Force last year were accepted, said the Minister in charge of Police (Mr Holland) this evening, in a broadcast address appealing for more applicants this year. The force, said Mr Holland, was looking for the best type of New Zealander. Recruits should be aged between 19 and 35 years, medically fit, and a minimum height of sft Bin. The work was most responsible, and there were plenty of opportunities in the force. There were 38 vacancies for police cadets, added Mr Holland. Boys jusl out of school aged 17 or 18 and keen to be policemen were the kind wanted.
