OLYMPIC FINN CLASS TRIALS ROBERTS AND BALLANTINE LEADING (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. Aug. 19. R. Roberts, of Auckland, and A. Ballantine. of Wellington, shared the lead after the second trial in the national Olympic Finn class yachting contest on the Waitemata Harbour this afternoon. Each skipper has taken a third and a first placing in the trials. Three trials remain. One will start at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. Another race is scheduled for the afternoon. The winner of these trials, decided on points over five races, will be nominated as the monotype skipper for the yachting section of the New Zealand Olympic Games team The finishing times for the first two trials were:— First Trial.—A. Ballantine (Wellington), 2hr 58min 51sec: P. Spencer (Auckland). 2hr 59min 18sec; R. Roberts (Auckland-. 3hr Imin 27sec; H. Walker (Canterbury). 3hr 2min 48sec; B. Slyfield (Wellington). 3hr Bmin 14sec. Second Trial.—Roberts, 4hr 58min 25sec: Walker, 4hr 59min 27sec; Ballantine. 4hr 59min 29sec; P. Spencer, 4hr 59min 42sec; Slyfield. shr Imin 32sec.
