China Buys No Rubber From Singapore

Communist China had still not' shown interest in buying rubber from Singapore, in spite of the lifting early last month of the embargo on shipments of Malayan rubber to China, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry" renorted today.

Members of a Singaoore trade delegation to Japan and China said today that the Peking Government would buy Malayan rubber if it could be assured of a market for Chinese industrial products in Malaya and Singapore.

Confidence that trade between Malaya and China might eventually amount to about £58.000.000 a year was expressed by Mr Yap PhengGeck. organiser of the trade mission If China buys more rubber from us. we should be in a position to buy more goods from China,” Mr Yap
