OLYMPIC GAMES APPEAL
CHRISTCHURCH QUOTA SUBSCRIPTIONS
With about £l7OO subscribed or promised towards its quota of £3150. the Christchurch Olympic Games Appeal Committee met again last evening to discuss the raising of the amount required as the district’s contribution towards sending the New Zealand team to the Games in Melbourne.
It was reported that the original estimated cost had been lowered and it was likely that there would now be a team of 85. instead of about 100.
One of the main sources of revenue for the committee is the sale of transfers for sticking on car windows. Because of a change of policy by the national organising committee, the committee decided that from Monday stickers would sell at 10s each instead of £l.
Among other matters discussed by the commitee were the sale of transfers for bicycles, a collection among persons attending the South African Rugby matches in Christchurch and an approach to business firms.
