MAN CHARGED AT GREYMOUTH (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. July 2.. Walter George Shaw, aged 35. appeared in the Police Court at Greymouth yesterday morning, charged with the theft of £l7O 10s from a safe in the Ikamatua Hotel on Saturday night. Detective-Sergeant R. Asking for a remand. DetectiveSergeant Smith said the accused was a sawmill hand, married, with four children. He had arrived in the district about six weeks ago from Southland. Mr Smith added that, as accused did not know anyone in the district, he would not oppose bail being granted without security. Mr M. K. B. Sheard, J.P., remanded accused to appear before a Magistrate in Greymouth on July 18. Bail of £lOO in accused’s own recognisance was fixed, and he was ordered to report daily to the police.
