Polio Injections In Victoria
(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 12.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Julv 2 A total of 1680 Melbourne children received their first injection of the Salk anti-poliomyelitis vaccine at school today. .For many of the children the injections came as a surprise, as headmasters had kept the inoculation date a secret. More than 5000 Victoria schoolchildren are in for a surprise tomorrow when the State-wide campaign against poliomyelitis takes another step forward. Most of the children treated today took the hypodermic needle as a matter of course. At one school 220 pupils were inoculated in 40 minutes.
