MEMBERSHIP OF 17,573 PRESIDENT’S REPORT The membership of the New Zealand Players Foundation was 17.573. an increase of 3000 on the previous year, said the president (Mr D. I. MacDonald) in his report presented to the third annual meeting of the foundation at Hamilton during the week-end.

“This figure represents the number of names on our roll, but contains some duplications and some subscriptions which, for one reason or another under the scheme of ‘running membership’ have expired and have not been renewed. It will be necessary during the year to make a purge of the membership roll. “The distribution of membership is on as a wide a basis as for the first two years, and most districts have recorded slight increases. “During the year, we have paid another £.1900 to the Players Company, end have expended probably £5OO to £6OO by way of publicity for the company.

“One of the striking features of an analysis of attendances at performances which the general manager of the company is now able to make, is the fall in the actual attendance of foundation members. The fail is both an actual one, and a proportionate one over the year in all centres. This is not to be regretted as it indicates a larger public support for the company,” said Mr MacDonald.
