WAITIKIRI GOLF LINKS

SUBDIVISION PLAN COMMENT BY CLUB CAPTAIN If it was not the intention of Wait*kiri Links. Ltd., to “cut up’’ the Waitikiri golf links, why was the scheme plan for subdivision deposited? asked the club captain (Mr E. in a statement to “The Press.” He was commenting on the assurance of Mr A. R. Blank, chairman of directors of the company owning the ground, after the scheme w r as . submitted to the Christchurch Drainage Board, that it was not the company’s intention to subdivide. • “With the help of its patron. Mr Roy McKenzie, the club has secured he shares which belonged to his father. Sir John McKenzie and. with ether shares, the club has a fair holding in lhe Comnany owning the links.’’ said Mr Casbolt. “Mr Blank is the president of the New Zealand Golf Council and professes to be a staunch supporter of the game.’’ he said. ‘‘lt would have been thought that Mr Blank was more interested in having this area declared a playing ground in perpetuity and not in creating a loophole for some oerson in the future to sell some ot this land for profit. “Golf courses are expensive to establish —the expense would make it well-nigh impossible at the present time. I leave Mr Blank with this thought: only depositing this plan makes this loophole possible, so why deposit it?’’ said Mr Casbolt.
