ARMAMENT PLAN

French And U.S. Declaration

(Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 20. The Foreign Ministers of the United States and France announced in a joint communique today they were agreed that only a disarmament plan which dealt with the atomic threat would serve the purpose of world security. The communique, at the end or three-day talks between Mr Christian Pineau, of France, and Mr Dulles, of the United States, expressed agreement that carrying out an extensive reduction in the armed forces required the concurrent solution of the reunification of Germany and other major problems. The two statesmen reaffirmed the necessity of further strengthening the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. The Foreign Ministers exchanged view's on the Middle East situation, reaffirming their intention to continue to search within the framework of the United Nations for a peaceful solution in that area.
