The Secretary of Internal Affairs (Mr A. G. Harper) will visit Chrirtchurch next Wednesday to discuss with the City Council and the Lyttelton Harbour Board the visit ih December of the Duke of Edinburgh.
Dr. D. P. Kennedy, deputy-director of the division of hospitals for the Department of Health, is at present in Christchurch for discussions on various aspects of the Cashmere Hospital and other North Canterbury Hospital Board matters with officers of the board. Mr T. D. Adams will succeed Mr ML. Applegarth as Chief Postmaster «t Dunedin next month. Mr Adams joined the Post and Telegraph Department at Kaiapoi. and was formerly postmaster at Waikari. Leeston. Waimate. and Ashburton before taking his present appointment as deputy-chief postmaster at Dunedin.
Captain F. A. Gunn, adjutant of the Ist Battalion, Canterbury Regiment, has been promoted to the rank of major. Major Gunn has been the battalion’s adjutant for the last three years.
