WORLD VETERANS" FEDERATION

N.Z.R.S.A. Attitude

To Membership

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 19. One outstanding matter of importance that would have to be discussed by delegates was the association's relation with the World Veterans’ Federation, said Mr K. W. Fraser in his presidential address to the annual meeting of the Dominion council of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association today. “The question whether we should join the federation has been under discussion for some years and, prudently, successive Dominion councils have deferred making a decision until more information was available,” said Mr Fraser.

Early this year the Dominion executive committee decided to accept an invitation from the federation to send an observer to its annual general assembly sessions in Brussels,” said Mr Fraser. “The Dominion vicepresident (Mr K. W. R. Glasgow) and one of the association’s representatives on the council of the British Empire Services League (Mr O. M. Samuel) attended the sessions last month. Their reports and opinions gained at first hand will be available to assist delegates in their deliberations.

“I hope a firm decision one way or another will be made, as the matter has gone on long enough,” said Mr Fraser.

Commenting on the affairs of the association. Mr Fraser said the financial position was sound and that membership throughout the year had been almost fully maintained Important in the successful functioning of every branch was the considerable contribution made by the women’s sections. Mr Fraser said.

* It is with a sense of gratitude that I express warm thanks to the enthusiastic band of women who loyally and untiringly give their services to associations in more than 300 communities throughout the Dominion,” said Mr Fraser.
