ACCIDENTS
TRUCK LEAVES LEWIS PASS ROAD
DRIVER SERIOUSLY INJURED

Though he walked for assistance after a truck he was driving rolled several hundred feet from the road near the top of the Lewis Pass last evening, a Christchurch man is in the Inangahua Hospital seriouslv injured. He is Desmond Thomas O’Flaherty, aged 25, a monumental mason, of 169 Peterborough street. Christchurch. A mile east of the Maruia Springs Hotel, the truck left the road and rolled to the Maruia creek bed. The accident occurred about 7.30 p.m. Mr O’Flaherty was thrown out of the cab of the truck as it somersaulted down the grade. He managed to reach the road some time later and made his way to the hotel.
He was taken to the Inangahua Hospital at Reefton. He is suffering from head injuries, including facial lacerations, and his condition this morning was reported to be serious.
CYCLIST INJURED
When the bicycle she was riding was involved in a collision with a car at the intersection of Rutland street and St. Albans street at 8.30 a.m. yesterdsy- a 12-year-old schoolgirl, Jill Carlene Brooker, of 151 Mays road, suffered head injuries. She was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital and admitted. Her condition last night was reported to be satisfactory.
