OBITUARY

MR A. WILLIAMS (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 7. A veteran of three wars. Mr Arthur Williams, died in the New Plymouth Public Hospital today. He Was 82. As a member of the Imperial Army he served in the South African War and fought in the battles of Transvaal, Orange Free State, Modder River, and Belmont. In 1915 he went to France with the Welsh Fusiliers. After leaving the Army for the second time, Mr Williams went farming in his native Wales until 1920, when he brought his family to New Zealand and began farming at Kaponga. In World War II he served at Trentham Military Camp. Afterwards he returned to his Kaponga farm and stayed there till his retirement to New Plymouth in 1946.
