TRAP SHOOTING
ELLESMERE CLUB’S COMPETITION
Thirty-four competitors took part in the Ellesmere Gun Club’s opening day shoot held on its ground at Leeston. A strong north-east wind made shooting conditions difficult and the scoring was lower than usual.
W. L. Donald scored the only possible in a 10-bird sweep and took first money; the rest of the cash going to W. Winchester, jun., I. Winchester, D. S. Dorreen, L. C. Lemon, and S. Maw, each one down.
First and second trophies for the main match of the day. at 15 targets, were given by the president. Mr J. F. Parkin. There were no possibles, E. G Amyes and S. Maw, each with 14 breaks, tieing for first place. A shoot-off resulted in a win for J. Amyes. With 13 on E. S. McGill, A. A. Greenwood. W. L. Gabbie. W. A. Anderson. W. H. Winchester, and W. L. Donald shared the sweep money. Shooters with three misses were M. Giddens, A. A. Peterson, F. L. Graham, M. A. McMillan, L. H. Greenwood, E. W. Donald, E. A. Alexander, and G. M. Scott.
The only possible in a 10-bird sweep was gained by E. G. Amyes. With nine on W. Winchester, jun., M. Giddens, and L. H. Greenwood divided second, third, and fourth money. Shooters with two down were J. F. Parkin. C. Roberts. J. Hatgood, A. A. Peterson, A. A. Greenwood. G. M. Doyle, and W. A. Anderson. Messrs E. G. Amyes and R. G. Allan were the referees.
