SPORTS MEETING AT KAIKOURA

BUSHCRAFT, ATHLETICS AND CYCLING The annual sports meeting run by St. Patrick's Sports Association was held at Takahanga Domain in cool weather. The gate was £6B. In the bushcraft section the NelsonMarlborough open standing block chopping championship (12in log) was won by R. T. MacDonald (Blenheim). The 7 winner of the underhand chop, 14in, and the single-handed sawing, 16in, events, was W. P. Smith (Kaikoura). An outstanding performance was put up in the cycling events by .R. Lucas (Hornby Club), who won the three principal cycle races and the St. Patrick’s Challenge Cup for most points during the day. Lucas also lowered the track record of 29sec by l-ssec in a special attempt.
