MANAGEMENT OF TOURS
RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER PESHAWAR “RAGGING” (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) <R ® C : 7 ? m > LONDON. March 9 Cricket writers are lorecasting a much sterner discipline for future touring M.C.C. teams as the result of the recent ragging” incident at Peshawar. It is that Professional* members of the M.C.C. team concerned will probably be disciplined by losing their good conduct bonus of £2OO a man. The incident is still being widely discussed in the sporting columns of the British press which is united in applauding the manner in which the M.C.C. reacted. Cne major point being debated <s the fact that the M.C.C. has not yet disclosed the names of the cricketers involved. Several writers point out that until this is done, members of the touring party who had nothing to do with the rag bear an undeserved stigma. Six members of the tourists have been named by Pakistan newspapers as having taken part, and some London newspapers have quoted the Pakistan list. “Hard though it may be to see any redeeming feature in this lamentable incident, one hopes that it may bring home to the M.C.C. the realisation that nowadays nothing in their orbit is more important than a tour overseas.” says the "Dailx Telegraph" cricket writer. “The M.C.C. is determined that there will be no repetition of such behaviour and steps will be taken before the England team leaves for South Africa al the end of the summer to ensure stricter discipline.”
