BECKENHAM BUS STOP
Sir, —What is the reason for the alteration to the Tennyson street bus stop (inwards). Since the buses replaced the trams the stop has been to the north of the Somerfield street intersection. About three weeks ago it was transferred to the Tennyson street intersection, comparatively close to the Fisher avenue stop, and leaving a big gap to the next inwards stop (Devon street). This morning the “stop” notice and time-table were shifted back to the original site, but in the afternoon were returned to Tennyson street. If the authorities concerned with deciding bus stops would pay a visit to the locality and judge the position logically without interference from shop-keepers, most of whom are not bus patrons, I am sure they would restore the stop to the original site (north of Somerfield street).—Yours, etc., REGULAR BUS PATRON. February 20, 1956. [“This matter is being resolved by interviewing the representatives of the petitioners,” said the general manager of the Christchurch Transport Board (Mr J. F. Fardell), when this letter was referred to him.]
