“BALANCED”
Sir, —It would be edifying if your dramatic critic could treat us to some fresh epithets. Shakespeare says: “Very good orators, when they are out, they will spit.” Critics, when they are out, they will use the word “balanced.” In the recent criticism of the Priestley play we find: “Olwen’s balanced personality”; “this balanced presentation.” “Balanced” is one of those words that sound profound and mean just nothing. “Good show” would convey more sincerity.—Yours etc..
