£21,000 FOR TWO PROPERTIES
LOTS SOLD AT AUCTION Two properties realised more than £21,000 when they were sold by public auction in Christchurch yesterday. Lot I is of 85 acres in Coringa road, Harewood, adjacent to the Christchurch airport, and to the proposed Sockburn-Styx railway. The property has a large two-storey homestead, with nine main rooms. Outbuildings include an implement shed and a hay shed, and two fowlhouses. The land is divided into nine paddocks, and is sown in lucerne, barley, ryegrass, cocksfoot, and clover pastures.
Bidding opened at £l2O an acre, and rose to £l4O with two bids of £lO. It then rose by £5 bids to £165 an acre —more than £14,000. ' Lot II comprises nine acres in Curletts road, near Blenheim road. The land is zoned for heavy industry. Bidding opened at £6OO an acre. Four bids of £5O took the price to £BOO an acre—more than £72oo—and it was bought at this figure by the Dominion Compressed Yeast Company. More than 40 persons attended the auction.
