SCHOOL LEAVING AGE

ENFORCEMENT .OF LAW (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 25. Attention to the regulation requiring children to attend school until their fifteenth birthday, though only a short time may elapse between the school opening date of February 1 and the children’s birthdays turning 15, was drawn today by the attendance officer of the Wellington Education Board (Mr G. G. Tait). Last year, the board prosecuted 16 parents for failure to ensure the regular attendance at school of their children who were near the leaving age -of 15. The Senior Inspector of Schools can grant exemption; otherwise, the law is absolute.
