RETAIL MEAT SHOP CHAIN
BRANCH TO OPEN IN DUNEDIN A Christchurch company operating a chain of retail butchers’ shops throughout the city and suburbs will open a shop in South Dunedin next Wednesday. Formed in 1932, the chain now runs 20 shops in Christchurch, and next week’s venture will be the first in an outside centre. Supplies for the new shop will be drawn from Dunedin wholesalers. There are no chain butcheries operating in Dunedin at present. If the public response is good, and the new shop is in a workers’ suburb and will offer meat which generally is cheaper than competitors’, the company will go further into the Dunedin market, a spokesman said yesterday.
