He intends to attend as many rowing regattas as possible in both the South Island and the North Island in search of oarsmen worthy of national representation, and he believes that temperament and personality must be considered when teams* for overseas competition are selected. Mr Stevenson won the New Zealand singles sculls in 1923, 1925, 1926, and 1927 and m 1925 and 1926 he won the doubles with W. Smith. In the winter of 1954 he was asked to coach the entire Empire Games rowing team, and although he did not know the styles of any of its members, he managed to produce such fine form that the team gained two first and two second placings.
