“More Millionaires” In Britain

LONDON, January 21. A big increase in the number of “millionaires” in Britain during the financial year 1953-54 was disclosed in a report which shows that 190 persons had an income of £6OOO a year in 1953-54 after paying income tax and surtax, compared with only 35 the year before.

It has been estimated that to have a net income of £6OOO a year in Britain a man must be a millionaire. In 1938 there were 6560 in this group.
