MAORI RECEPTION FOR REVUE COMPANY
The people of many Canterbury tribes gave a reception to members of the visiting “Harlem Blackbirds” Revue Company last evening. Leading elders from Tuahiwi, Rapaki, Little River, Taumutu, Temuka and other settlements were amongst the audience. Mr H. K. Hopa conducted devotions in Maori before the function began. Mr Trevor King, advance manager for the visitors, expressed his appreciation to the Maori people ana the producer, Mr Larry Steele, said he was pleased to have met one more coloured race.
