SMITHFIELD MEAT MARKET
FROZEN LAMB PRICES EASE (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 20. Frozen lamb met a disappointing demand at Smithfield this week, and new season’s eased by as much as IJd per lb for top-grade light-weight. According to advice cabled to the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, the following are the ruling prices for new season’s frozen lamb:— First quality: 281 b and under, 27Jd per lb (down l|d on last week); 291b-361b, 261 d (down id per lb); 371b-421b, 24d (unchanged). Seconds: 291b-361b, 25d (unquoted). Frozen mutton was slow and fractionally easier. For frozen beef there was little inquiry, and supplies of chilled beef exceeded the demand. Prices for New Zealand meat (ex store, London, for frozen meat, delivered to Smithfield for chilled beef) in the week ended January 20. with the variation since the previous week, were as follows: Sheep Jan. 20. New Zealand Breweries.—The company advises that the issue of 281,127 ordinary £1 shares at a premium of 10s has been fully subscribed and allotted. Notices of allotment have been posted to all shareholders.
