THE POUJADISTS
Sir, —It is interesting to note that East and West have come to complete agreement and have united in a vicious smear campaign against the “Poujadists.” In the past, such tactics have been used only against honest men and true patriots. This description may not fit Mr Poujade, but at this stage he must get tfie benefit of the doubt. Is it because a “plain speaking man’’ has declared that he will be a real representatives of the people —something repugnant x to East and West alike—that he receives this treatment? It is because he has indicated that he will oppose the “Money Power’’ that his group has been described as lunatic by the “Economist,” anti-Jewish and antiDemocratic by the “Daily Herald.” and semi-Fascist by "The Press,” Christchurch and the Moscow "Daily Worker”? Does it not appear, too, that a single directive initiated this attack?—Yours, etc., TAURAN. January 6. 1956.
