SOVIET WEAPON RESEARCH

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, January 4. Senator Henry Jackson said today that the Soviet Union was giving the highest priority to weapons that were even more fantastic than the intercontinental ballistic missile. He told reporters that he was inclined to believe that the Soviets already had developed a ballistic missile, although probably not of the longrange type, which could span the ocean with nuclear warheads. Senator Jackson is chairman of the Atomic Energy Military Applications Sub-Committee, giving him access to much secret information.
