N.Z. TRADE WITH FRANCE
VISIT OF AGEING I COMMISSIONER- J Mr Marc Baillard, Acting-Trade Commissioner for'France in New Zealand, will arrive in Christchurch on December 6 for two days on his first visit to the South Island. He-will meet traders and importers interested in buying French products. Last year France’s purchases in New Zealand exceeded £14,500,000, which made the country second in the r«nk of New Zealand’s clients. i France is a considerable buyer of the Dominion’s wool and woolly sheep skins, and of other products such as apples and butter. France recently placed an order for 1000 tons of butter with New Zealand, and this may bi followed by other orders for the same commodity. New Zealand’s purchases from France are exceedingly small. Last year they reached only £1,750,000. France can offer New Zealand the products traditionally associated w’ith her industries, such as wines, perfumes and textiles, as well as machinery, chemical products, metals, metallic products, fertilisers and agricultural machinery.
