PACERS’ TRIALS
ONLY THREE HORSES QUALIFY Tassel Trick, Shy, and Wee Sam were the only maiden t-acers to equal or better 3min 25sec for one mile and a half in four qualifying heats at trials held yesterday at Addington by the Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ Association. The track was in good order, but times were badly affected by a blustery southerly wind and cool temperatures. In more favourable conditions, many more horses would have qualified. Tassel Trick, a half-brother to Dealer’s Choice and Triple Play, received a perfect run behind Shy in his heat, and he finished on to take a head decision in 3min 23sec—a smart effort for a maiden under the conditions.
