BURNSIDE PARK
WAIMAIRI COUNTY BUYS LAND The Waimairi County Council has completed the purchase of 18 acres of land for a recreation reserve in Burnside road. It will be known as Burnside Park.
Reporting this to the council, the chairman (Mr F. W. Walter) said: "It is indeed gratifying to see a reserve such as this being purchased, for it may be said that it is the first fruit of the council’s policy to purchase large areas of land for reserve purposes at vantage points throughout the county.
I feel that the council, encouraged by this successful venture, will push ahead to negotiate further purchases of land for reserves in other parts of the county.
“The money for the purchase of these 18 acres has been made available by the Department of Lands and Survey, from the monies held to the Waimairi County Council’s credit in the Land Subdivision in Counties Fund,” he said.
