CROWN LAND SECTIONS

42 BALLOTS HELD YESTERDAY VALUATIONS TOTAL ABOUT £18,200 Ballots were held in Christchurch yesterday for 42 Crown land building sections which have valuations totalling more than £18,200. Prices for the sections vary from £165 to £B3O, the average price being about £430. They are located in Fendalton, Dallington, Shirley, Mairehau, Harewood, Hoon Hay, Hornby, Upper Riccarton and Belfast. The sections were offered for the benefit of persons who wish to erect houses immediately for their own occupation and certain articles have been drawn up to ensure compliance with this condition. A total of 129 applications was received for the sections and preference was given to former servicemen.
