IGNITION KEYS LEFT IN PARKED CARS

POLICE WARNING TO MOTORISTS (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, August 30. Motorists are inviting trouble by leaving ignition keys in parked cars, according to Senior-Detective J. G. Long. His comment followed a case in the Palmerston North Children’s Court yesterday when a 16-year-old boy faced 12 charges of unlawfully converting motor-vehicles, including cars, trucks, and station waggons worth a total of £6855.

In almost every case, said SeniorDetective Long, the keys had been left in them by their owners. Motorists should take great care to see that they did not leave the keys in their cars as this was a temptation for anyone inclined towards conversion. Broadcasts were made frequently about missing cars, and drivers should be aware of their resnonsibilities.

The boy was placed on two years’ probation by Mr L. M. Inglis, S.M.
