FAREWELL TO DR. D. P. KENNEDY
TRIBUTES BY STAFF OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT Members of the staff of the Department of Health in Christchurch yesterday afternoon said farewell to Dr. D. P. Kennedy, who for more than eight years has been the District Medical Officer of Health in Christchurch, and Mrs Kennedy. Dr. A. Douglas, who will be medical officer until an appointment is made, said that during Dr. Kennedy’s term of office there had been many improvements in the department, and his successor would have a very high standard to maintain. Other tributes were paid by the Deputy-Medical Officer of Health (Dr. H. T. Knights), the senior health inspector (Mr W. F. de Roo). the senior nursing Inspector (Mrs J. M. Wood) and the district executive officer (Mr J. D. Holmes). Dr. Kennedy said that he felt very proud of the district and of the persons with whom he had been associated. Later. Dr. Kennedy left for Wellington, where he will become an assistant director of hospitals.
