Mail to South Africa.— The last surface mail for South Africa left Auckland by the Delphic on August 23 and there will probably be no more until the Dominion Monarch sails from Wellington about October 18. There will be no ships sailing from Australia for South Africa to carry New Zealand mails. Urgent correspondence for South Africa should, in the interval, be forwarded •‘by air mail, says the Post Office.—(P.A.)
