Gernjan Communist HL— The East German Communist Party secretary Mr Walter Ulbricht, was reported yesterday to be seriously ill with cancer of the throat according to the Berlin correspondent of the “Daily Express.” Mr Ulbricht, who is 62, has not been seen in public for two months.—London. August 29. Conference on Astronomy.—Six hundred astronomers from 41 countries, including 19 from Russia, met in Dublin today for the ninth conIgress of the International Astronomical Union. The conference is being held in private.—Dublin, August 29.
