TRIBUTE TO SIR JOHN MCKENZIE

MEMORIAL CORNER IN LIBRARY

A corner at the Upper Riccarton War Memorial Library will be set aside for books given by friends of Sir John McKenzie as a tribute to his memory.

Sir John McKenzie was a member of the library from the time of his arrival in the district, and was a vicepresident for some time. He was a very good friend of the library and frequently took out books, said Mr L. C. Crequer, secretary of the library, yesterday.

Though it had been requested that no flowers be sent for Sir John McKenzie’s funeral, those who wished to do so could give books to the library in his memory, Mr Crequer said. Anyone who wishes to honour the memory of Sir John McKenzie in this way should get in touch with Mr Crequer at 115 Peverel street, Riccarton. Receipt of all books will be acknowledged, and they will be placed in the special section of the library, where they will always be shown as presented in Sir John McKenzie’s memory.
