PROFESSIONAL ROAD RACE TITLE (N.Z. Association— Copyright/ FRASCATI (Italy), August 23. Constant Occers, of Belgium, won a brilliant victory from his French and Italian rivals at Frascati today to wrn the world professional road cycling championship. K The new champion rode furiously ic make up a 10-minute deficit in the final four laps of the gruelling 14-lap event, totalling 182 miles. Jempy Schmitz (Luxembourg) was second, and German Derjidke (Belgium) third. The course was so tough that only 19 of the 65 starters crossed the finishing line. None of the Australian or British competitors finished. The Australian, Russell Mockridge, withdrew in the ninth lap, ana his team-mates, John Beasley, Arthur Julius, and James Taylor pulled out shortly afterwards.
