INVESTIGATION BY F. 8.1.

(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) DETROIT, Aug. 15. Mr George A. Barton, former president of the National Boxing Association, disclosed today that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had been conducting an inquiry into boxing in the United States since last June. Mr Barton, now chairman of the Minnesota Athletic Commission, made the statement at the annual convention of the National Boxing Association,, which unanimously adopted a resolution calling for a Congressional examination of the sport

Mr George M. Leader, Governor of Pennsylvania, who suspended professional boxing in his State last May, joined the move to clean up the sport. In a speech today, he called for the adoption of a uniform athletic code to regulate boxing throughput the country. His speech drew enthusiastic response from nearly 150 representatives of 47 State boxing commissions and Canada and several Latin American countries. Only New York is not a member of the association.
