RAILWAYMEN’S DISPUTE
i NO FRESH LOCAL DEVELOPMENTS
There were no developments in Christchurch yesterday in the dispute between the Railways Department and the Canterbury branch of the Engine Drivers’, Firemen’s and Cleaners’ Association.
The dispute is being discussed by the head office of thq department and of the association in Wellington. The dispute arose when a former engine driver and senior foreman who had retired was appointed do a clerical position, which is normally reserved for engine drivers who are disabled.
