TOWN FAIR MAY MISS PARLIAMENTARY "The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, July 12. The Avondale gelding. Fair Town, did not leave for Trentham until mid-after-noon today. He is unlikely to fulfil his engagement in the Parliamentary Handicap tomorrow. Fair Town is expected to compete in the Winter Oats on the third day of the Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting on Saturday. GOLDEN GALLEON BACK FROM AUSTRALIA Golden Galleon returned to Wellington from Sydney on Monday, and will be spelled at Sir Matthew Oram’s farm at Colyton, in the Feilding district. He will not be trained again, and although no plans have been made about his future, arrangements may be made for him to go to the stud. One of the best young horses of his time. Golden Galleon won the last Wellington Cup. He is a six-year-old chestnut horse, a son of the successful stallion, Admiral’s Luck, and first foal of the unraced Foxbridge or Nizami mare, Rosina. Mainlander, which has also been racing in Australia, returned in the WanganeJla with Golden Galleon. He will re-enter the Trentham stable of W. J. Bromby. TRENTHAM SCRATCHINGS Scratchings for the second day of the Wellington winter meeting today are:— Trial Plate: Eastern Sun, Stariha, Isaac’s Lass. Matai Steeplechase: Prince Coronach.
