Heat Worries Crew On Polar Flight

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright > OTTAWA, June 27. Heat was the main worry of a Royal Air Force crew on a trans-polar jet flight, it was said today. Wing Commander M. D. Lyne, aged 36, who piloted a Canberra jet bomber on the first east-to-west trans-polar jet flight last week, .told reporters that the hot sun on the pilot’s cabin made him uncomfortable as he flew over the North Pole in 40deg below zero weather. The Canberra flew 3190 miles from Bardufoss. on the northern tip of Norway. to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 6hr 30min.
