SPECIAL FILMS FOR CHILDREN
SIX TO BE IMPORTED FROM BRITAIN (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 29. Six Children’s Film Foundation films are to be imported into New Zealand for showing to special children’s audiences in Wellington and other main centres in the country. This was announced at a meeting of the Children’s Film Committee in Wellington, and resulted in the postponement of the proposed children's film festival in Wellington about the middle of July. The films will be brought into the country by Mr R. J. .Kerridge, at the special request of the committee, which represents the New Zealand Film Institute, the Wellington Film Society, and a number of public organisations. “Although Dunedin has also been planning a children’s film festival, our attempt will, I feel, be regarded as the main test, and there is simply no room for failure on our part now that Mr Kerridge has given us this magnificent opportunity,” the chairman (Mr T. H. Gundersen) told the committee.
