HUTTON’S FORM IMPROVES
CRICKET
Return To Test Side Possible (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, June 28. Len Hutton, who eight days ago asked to be relieved of the captaincy of England’s team and hinted that he might withdraw for good from test cricket, may be persuaded to change his mind and return to the team as early as July 7 when England plays South Africa at Old Trafford, the “Yorkshire Post” said today. The reason was the sparkling innings of 194 that Hutton played yesterday for Yorkshire against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. “It was Hutton at his best,” the sports editor of the newspaper said. He said it was a remarkable change of fortune and it shared chief prominence in the day’s sporting news with England’s win in the second test at Lords. Hutton, whose inability to strike form caused his withdrawal from the tests, had in the last 15 innings for Yorkshire scored only 339 runs.
